In December 2024, Oorvani Foundation conducted a Masterclass on Lakes followed by an OpenCity datajam on the topic of Bengaluru Lakes.
The goal of the masterclass was for people to understand how our lakes work, their interconnectedness, and what to look for to judge a healthy, well-maintained and functioning lake by learning to audit the important assets of lakes.
The datajam was conducted in collaboration with Biome Environment Trust, Friends of Lakes, Paani.Earth and WELL Labs, and supported by venue partner Samagata Foundation. It brought together lake volunteers along with GIS, tech professionals and urban planners to look at different lake systems from the top down, combined with what the audits told them.
The outcome of both the events was to prepare a “Status of Bengaluru Lakes 2024-25” report which can be found below.
